The guidance in PoolHelp is educational. It's based on the well-established TroubleFreePool methodology and common pool-care practice. It is not a substitute for professional advice, and it is not a guarantee about your specific pool.

Every pool is different. Use PoolHelp's suggestions as a helpful starting point, and pair them with your own judgment, a physical test kit, and the instructions on your products.

Verify before you dose

AI and app suggestions can be wrong. Before adding any chemical:

• Confirm your readings with a physical test kit. Don't dose based on a single app estimate.
• Read and follow the label on every chemical product. The label always wins over the app.
• Add chemicals in reasonable amounts, retest, and adjust gradually. Small and steady beats big and fast.

Handling chemicals safely

Pool chemicals are useful but can be hazardous if mishandled. Please:

• Never mix chemicals together (for example, different chlorine products, or chlorine and acid). Add one chemical at a time, and give it time to circulate before adding another.
• Always add acid to water, never water to acid. Pour slowly.
• Store chemicals safely: in their original containers, tightly closed, in a cool, dry, well-ventilated place, and out of reach of children and pets.
• Wear appropriate protection (eye protection and gloves) as directed by the product label, and avoid breathing fumes.
• Keep people and pets out of the pool during and after treatment for as long as the product label specifies.

When to call a professional

PoolHelp is great for water chemistry, but some things need a licensed professional. Call one for:

• Electrical work or anything involving pumps, wiring, or bonding/grounding
• Gas heaters and gas lines
• Structural issues (cracks, leaks in the shell, decking)
• Plumbing repairs and persistent leaks
• Any persistent problem you can't resolve, or anything that seems unsafe

When in doubt, stop and get a qualified professional. It's the right call.

In an emergency

For a medical emergency, chemical exposure, or any immediate danger, contact your local emergency services or poison control center right away. Don't wait on the app.
